I’m a huge fan of ACOMAF. Like… huge. But I’m also …
I’m going to keep this review short and sweet, as this was a huge disappointment for me.
Like many, this was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017. I mean, come on. LOOK AT THAT COVER. And the description? It sounded like it was going to be my new replacement of ACOTAR now that that series is over, but… nope.
We all know the saying: “Don’t judge a book by its cover” – even though some of us are guilty of it.
(Okay, maybe a lot of us. Myself included.)
But I can’t deny that I’m also guilty of judging a book by its interior too. As a designer, typography is everything.
This was my first time reading Andy Weir, and I was quite excited after all the hype with The Martian, however… I think this will be my last time reading him.
The plot was okay. Our protagonist is Jazz, the city smuggler, but she finds herself the business deal of her dreams that earns her the big bucks. It’s nothing mind blowing, and come to think of it…
What. a. freaking. ride. The first book absolutely broke me and melted my heart, and this one had me screaming internally, wanting to throw chunks of asteroids at some of the characters and hug others in warm blankets until their problems went away. I don’t even know how to begin with my thoughts, because so much happened that has left me speechless and angry and full of revenge, all of it being things I never expected to happen. NEVER.
This was… so bad?
I’m sorry if you liked this, but I have to be honest and say this was one of the most poorly written cheesefests I’ve ever watched.
This series was one of the first I ever read when I got into books. And though I didn’t finish it (DNF’d book 2 I believe),
I was tagged by @books.and.booksies to do the Books and Disney Villains Tag! I’m a 90s kid, so I grew up watching every Disney movie over and over, to the point where my sister … right this moment… is watching a Disney movie in her room, lol. (She’s 27 and watches a Disney movie nearly everyday.)
As we come to a close and say goodbye to 2017, we also stop to give a huge welcome to all the amazing books coming out these next few months! This year has been a hit for new, amazing books and I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store! So let’s jump right into my most anticipated releases, shall we?
This is going to be a mini-review because this kind of fell a little flat for me, so I’m not sure what else to say. Hm.. where do I begin? This series has been on my TBR since almost when I first began reading. I’d heard so many great things about it and was super excited to finally begin reading it.
Whew! What a ride. I’ve heard so much about this series, some mixed as well, so I was a little apprehensive. Now, I like to go into books not knowing anything about it, that way I have a clear slate in my mind for openness. I’d heard the world building in this was fantastic, and man, y’all weren’t kidding!
This was SO much fun! I loved Lucy as much as Ricky Ricardo did, Josh was freaking amazing and sexy and flirty and cute, and this book was one giant ball of FUN and LOVE and SEXY and WITTY. I thought the rivalry was absolutely hilarious. Of course you expect the two enemies to get together in the end, but the way Sally set them up as coworkers…
As lovely as this was as a conclusion and a giant adventure, ACOMAF really is hands down the best book in the series. I had some issues with it, like the pacing and lack of action for a while, but there were so many bloody amazing elements that I will adore forever, so it’s okay.
